Honolulu and Trevor met at Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) in October 2018. GDB began the quest for a guide dog partner for Trevor when his faithful guide, Tennille, chose naps by the fire over wilderness trekking.

After two years of scouting the ranks of puppies-in-training, GDB singled out Honolulu as a truly exceptional dog with athleticism, intelligence, and drive. Lulu’s bond with Trevor was instant. After two weeks of intensive training together, Trevor and Lulu graduated to start a lifelong partnership.

This August, Honolulu demonstrated her capacity for backcountry guide work and high altitude hiking by thru-hiked the Collegiate Peaks Loop in Colorado with Trevor. This 160-mile trail was Lulu’s first major accomplishment in the backcountry.
